Heskey seeks quick return
18 Dec 2007 - 10:52:28
Wigan Athletic striker Emile Heskey is hoping to be back in action within a fortnight, despite suffering an ankle injury in the 5-3 victory over Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.
The 29-year-old England international had to be replaced shortly before half-time at the JJB Stadium, with Latics boss Steve Bruce fearing another spell on the sidelines for his star frontman.
However, Heskey is upbeat about his prospects after a scan on the problem soon after the game.
He told Sky Sports: "It's not too bad and it's actually better than we'd feared.
"I had a scan straight after I came off to make sure it wasn't broken or anything. It's better than I thought, so hopefully in a week or so it will be okay.
"Fulham away is probably a bit too early for me. Aston Villa we'll have a look at that and see how it goes from there."
Meanwhile, the Latics have been linked with a January transfer window move for Plymouth Argyle's Hungary left-winger Peter Halmosi.
The 28-year-old has scored seven goals in 43 appearances for the Pilgrims since moving to England from Debrecen.
