Ivory Coast defender Steve Gohouri has penned a new two-year contract to extend his stay with Wigan Athletic.
The 29-year-old joined the Latics on a short-term deal after leaving Borussia Monchengladbach in January and impressed in making six appearances for Roberto Martinez's side before the end of the season.
A delighted Gohouri told the club's official website: "I love it here in England and in the Premier League. I want to thank the manager for giving me the chance to prove myself.
"Now I want to concentrate on staying fit and getting in the side on a regular basis next season and help to push the club to the next level."
Boss Martinez added: "Steve has impressed everyone at the club with his commitment, power and skill.
"He is desperate to prove himself at Wigan and I am delighted he has agreed to stay with us. He will add fantastic competition to the squad."
