Wigan Athletic have signed Honduras international defender Maynor Figueroa following a successful trial.
Figueroa, 24, will join the Latics subject to international clearance from Deportivo Olimpia - the same club Bruce raided to sign compatriot Wilson Palacios last week.
The left-back had been on trial at the JJB Stadium for the past three weeks and has joined the Latics on loan until the end of the season, after choosing them ahead of other interested clubs.
"He's strong, he's quick, he has a superb left foot and I think he has the attributes to adapt to the English game," Bruce told the club's official website.
"He's shown his desire to be with us by being away from his family all over Christmas and has shown plenty of potential in training.
"It's always a nervous time when you make a proposal to a player and you know he has a choice of clubs, but he has committed to himself to us, which is pleasing."
Meanwhile, Sweden defender Erik Edman is reported to be close to joining Wigan.
The former Spurs full-back is currently contracted to French side Rennes, but is keen on a return to the Premier League.
