Diame and N'Zogbia in fitness race

Both Momo Diame and Charles N'Zogbia face a race against the clock to be fit for this weekend's visit to Aston Villa. Diame was withdrawn partway through the first half against Everton after suffering a knock to the groin, whilst N'Zogbia was substituted shortly after the break after a collision with former Latic, Leighton Baines. Roberto Martinez is aware of the important of his midfield duo and is prepared to give them as much time as possible to recover. "We’re treating them as we speak and we’ll see how they progress during the week,” he told the Wigan Evening Post. “It’s important we give them as long as we can before we can make a decision. I’ve got a feeling it will end up being a really, really late call on them both, and we are prepared for that. “Both players are absolutely desperate to be involved and help the team – I love that kind of attitude. But we have to make the right decision for all parties, whatever it is, that will enable us to win the football match. “The medical team are working against the clock and, with these type of soft-tissue injuries, even six-to-eight hours can make a real difference. The good thing is they are two very fit boys and they’ll hopefully react well to the treatment.” It is hoped that both players will be fit for the visit to Aston Villa this weekend as the Latics aim to life themselves out and away from the relegation zone. James McArthur and Victor Moses are on standby as replacements and Martinez added: “It was disappointing to see both Charlie and Momo go off but it was very encouraging to see the contributions of the players who came on to replace them. “The performances of James McArthur and Victor Moses shows you every player in the squad has a role to play between now and the end of the season.”
