Forgotten man Daniel de Ridder has urged Wigan boss Roberto Martinez to let him leave if he isn't part of his first-team plans for the new season.
De Ridder, 26, joined the Latics in summer 2008 from Birmingham City but failed to make a single appearance under Martinez last season.
"I would love to stay here at Wigan, but only if I am playing regularly," said the former Netherlands Under-21 star.
"That's what every player wants and that's my only goal at the moment.
"I will be speaking to Roberto and whatever comes out of that chat will make the situation a bit clearer for myself.
"Then we'll make the right decision for all parties.
"The career of a footballer is so short and I cannot waste any more time. That's my feeling.
"If I'm not going to be playing then I hope that the manager will be honest about it and I think that he will be."
