Coyle hoping for loan market addition
Following Grant Holt's knee injury and Marc Antoine Fortune's ongoing hamstring trouble, Owen Coyle is hoping to utilise the loan market to boost his front line.
The last minute transfer of James McCarthy to Everton on deadline day left the club with no time to re-invest the funds from that transfer in a permanent addition.
Consequently Owen Coyle is looking to make a loan move for another forward to help support present loanee Nick Powell with the attacking duties.
"It didn't allow us any time to spend that money," said Coyle. "We worked very hard at wheeling and dealing before that, we probably still had a surplus of £1million from Arouna Kone and (Mauro) Boselli, and James' deal has added to that.
"We're sitting there with money to spend. I've tried to spend it, even in this loan window. You can understand a lot of clubs are not wanting to part with their best players.
"There's no secret that we'd love to add a striker to our array of talent given the injuries to (Grant) Holt and (Marc-Antoine) Fortune. It's not come to fruition yet but it won't stop us persevering and trying to use that loan market."
A host of names are being linked with the club but nothing has yet to materialise and this has been a source of frustration.
However performances on the pitch are continuing to improve as the new signings start to gel into a team which will hopefully make a push for promotion.
