Catt happy with Latics life

Wigan Athletic midfielder Lee Cattermole having no regrets about leaving Middlesbrough and joining the Latics in the summer for £3.5million.

The 20-year-old is a life-long Boro fan but is happy to have signed for Steve Bruce's side, despite being sent off in Saturday's draw against Sunderland.

He told the Evening Post: "I believe Wigan and Boro are similar-sized clubs. A couple of people have asked me whether it was a step backwards coming here, but I certainly don't think it was.

"I really do think we have a better team than Middlesbrough, and I'm very happy to come to Wigan. I think we'll do well this year as we have the makings of a good side.

"I'm enjoying playing every week, and feel I'm a bigger part of the team here than I was at Middlesbrough.

"It's good to know that the gaffer wants to play me. I'm just trying to pay him back by playing well and helping the team.

"He paid a lot of money for me. Other managers might not have taken me, but he stuck his neck out, which I'm thankful for."
