Bruce standing by Rodallega
27 Feb 2009 - 11:49:22
Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce remains confident that Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega will prove to be a success with the Latics.
The 23-year-old has yet to score for the Premier League outfit since his £4.5million move from Mexican side Necaxa, but Bruce is content that Rodallega is adapting to life in England.
He told the Evening Post: "We have to give Hugo time. He has got to get used to the training, the weather and the environment.
"Once he is used to all those, I have seen enough in training and at Middlesbrough to suggest he is totally different to what I've had to work with here before.
"Hugo is always looking to link up play and run in behind defenders. His movement is really excellent.
"The chance he had at Middlesbrough came when he left two of their defenders for dead. It's just a shame he couldn't finish it."
