Steve Bruce has signed Wilson Palacios for a second time after bringing the Honduras international to Wigan Athletic.
The 23-year-old midfielder made six appearances under Bruce while on loan at Birmingham City during the first half of the season.
Palacios, who returned to parent club Olimpia in Honduras after his spell at St Andrew's, has now joined Wigan on a three-and-a-half-year contract.
"I know Wilson well and I've seen what he can do," Bruce told the club's official website.
"I've stated from the day that I walked into the club that we'd only bring in players who'd improve the squad and offer something different.
"He has strength and vision, he can pass a ball with either foot and he has had some time to adjust to the rigour of the Premier League."
The 42-times capped international midfielder added: "I'm really happy to sign for Wigan.
"I like Steve as a manager and I think it's an ambitious club that's going places. I can't wait to get started now.
"When the loan finished at Birmingham, Wigan were the first to come in and make me an offer and now I want to focus everything on doing my best here."
