Bruce hints at Heskey price
08 Dec 2008 - 09:04:24
Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce has conceded he may be tempted to part with Emile Heskey in January should he receive a bid of at least £8million.
The England striker has been with a host of clubs - including Tottenham Hotspur and a return to Liverpool - as he is out of contract at the end of the current season.
Bruce is desperate to keep the 30-year-old at the JJB Stadium, but admits a 'mind-blowing' offer could force him to cash-in on Heskey, who has resurrected his international career on the back of his impressive club form during the past 12 months.
"I keep hearing two or three million quid but he won't be going for that," said the Latics boss.
"Now, if it's eight or ten (million) then I might have a decision to make because I could get a player in but at two to three million.
"I couldn't buy a player from the Championship."
Meanwhile, Heskey claims he remains totally focussed on the Latics despite the speculation surrounding his future.
"I'm a Wigan player and I'm trying my hardest," he said.
"Kevin Kilbane, Henri Camara and Ryan Taylor are out of contract like I am and nothing much is said about them.
"We're all in the same boat and want to do well for Wigan while we have contracts."
