Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce has played down talk of a big-money bid from Spanish giants Real Madrid for Ecuador international winger Luis Antonio Valencia.
The 23-year-old has impressed ever since joining the Latics in the summer of 2006 and his agent recently hinted that Real were keen to take Valencia to the Bernabeu.
However, Bruce told the Evening Post: "I told him it is all speculation, as we haven't had a bid and hopefully that will be the case in four weeks' time.
"The big clubs are watching us constantly, but it just shows what good players we have here at Wigan."
Valencia's representative, Diego Herrera, earlier told AS: "It would be a dream for Antonio to move to Real Madrid, a very beautiful opportunity.
"But until there is something official, I don't want to say anything.
"I have understood that Madrid want to close the signing that they are chasing during the first week of January. We will see what will happen in the next few days."
