Brown makes Latics wait

Wigan Athletic boss Chris Hutchings is still waiting to talk to Fulham midfielder Michael Brown over a possible switch to the JJB Stadium.

The two clubs have agreed a fee for the 30-year-old midfield hardman, but Hutchings has not been able to make any more progress to date.

He told the Evening Post: "We're just waiting to hear from him, that is how far things have gone.

"If he wants to come here, we can take the matter further."

Meanwhile, Hutchings says he is definitely chasing further new signings, despite having already made a number of raids into the transfer market this summer.

He told the club's official website: "The core of the squad is in place, but we are always looking to improve and build. That is the nature of football.

"My staff are working hard at making us as competitive as we can for the coming season and we are still doing plenty behind the scenes."
