Defender Emmerson Boyce has confirmed that he has opened talks over a new contract with Wigan Athletic.
The versatile 29-year-old still has another year of his current deal to run, but is keen to sort his long-term future out as soon as possible.
"My contract is up at the end of next season and we are in talks about a new one," Boyce commented.
"The club has always been good to me and I've had a good relationship with the fans."
Meanwhile, Latics boss Steve Bruce wants to see his side make a strong end to the campaign, following a recent run of three defeats in four games.
He said: "We have to make sure the real Wigan turns up for the next month and finish off the season the way we should do.
"We have taken 29 points off the bottom half of the division, which is why we were where we were for four or five months.
"We did really well the back end of last season, so this season has been a continuation of that and my hope is just that we finish it off.
"If we finish anywhere near the top ten, then we can all go away on our holidays saying we've had a really good season by the standards Wigan set themselves."
