Baines seeks Euro future

Wigan Athletic left-back Leighton Baines believes the club can push on for a European place in the next couple of seasons, despite their struggles this term.

The Latics still face a battle to secure their Premiership place for next term, but England Under-21 international Baines still expects the club to able to attract top-class recruits in the summer.

He told the Wigan Observer: "Bolton and Blackburn are good clubs for us to look at. They came from the lower divisions like us and have established themselves.

"This club has got massive potential to move on and try and get into those European places over the next couple of years.

"There will be a lot more players who will have a look at us in the summer and want to come here.

"This is a massive time for the club. We'll be able to kick on next year with more money behind us."
