Mahon agrees to join Latics

Latics boss Paul Jewell has been chasing the 25-year-old Blackburn Rovers midfielder for some time and is expected to include his new signing in the squad for Saturday's match against Ipswich Town.

Mahon cost Rovers £1.5million when he was signed from Sporting Lisbon in June 2001.

However, he has started just 11 league games for Graeme Souness' side and has been loaned out to Cardiff City and Ipswich Town in the last year.
