Wigan Athletic have snapped up veteran defender David Unsworth on a free transfer from Premiership rivals Sheffield United.
The versatile 33-year-old had fallen down the pecking order at Bramall Lane and was one of a number of squad players recently told that they could move on by manager Neil Warnock.
Warnock told his club's official website: "David was an asset to our promotion push and we would like to thank him for his contribution in his time at Bramall Lane."
Unsworth joined the Blades in the summer of 2005 from Portsmouth, but has made only a handful of appearances this season, with United back in the top-flight.
He becomes the third new arrival for the Latics since the January transfer window opened.
Wigan boss Paul Jewell has snapped up Sweden defender Andreas Granqvist on loan from Helsingborgs, with Norway midfielder Kristofer Haestad joining from IK Start on a similar basis.
