Reports suggest Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce is prepared to offer Everton more than £10million for England international striker Andy Johnson.
The 27-year-old, who has also been linked with a summer switch to Sunderland, seems certain to leave Goodison Park as Toffees boss David Moyes looks to revamp his squad.
Moyes claimed earlier in the summer that Johnson was not for sale but appears to have had a change of heart.
Johnson enjoyed a fine first season at Everton following his £8.6million transfer from Crystal Palace two summers ago, but struggled last term finding the net only six times in the Premier League.
Bruce has already allowed Marcus Bent and Julius Aghahowa to leave the JJB Stadium this stadium and has only Emile Heskey, Marlon King, Antoine Sibierski and Henri Camara to choose from for his strikeforce.
The Latics had been hoping to capture Egyptian striker Amr Zaki this summer only for the proposed £1.5million deal to collapse last month.
