Jewell delighted with Mahon capture

Wigan Athletic manager Paul Jewell is delighted to have finally persuaded Alan Mahon to move to the JJB Stadium.

The midfielder completed his move from Blackburn Rovers on Friday, and Jewell is looking forward to seeing a player he rates highly starring for the Latics.

"I've been after Alan for a while and I'm delighted that we've finally brought him in," Jewell told the club's official website.

"We're lucky to have him and he'll come here and give us a natural option on the left-hand side of midfield which is something we haven't had for a while.

"He'll bring Premiership quality here and with him still only being 25 he probably still has his best years ahead of him."
