Wigan Athletic expect Caleb Folan to make a speedy recovery from the foot injury which forced the striker to withdraw from the Republic of Ireland squad.
The 24-year-old had won his first senior international call after impressing for the Latics since his arrival from Chesterfield in the January transfer window, but was forced to pull out of Steve Staunton's squad after being stretchered off in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Fulham.
But despite the personal injury blow, the Latics have revealed they expect Folan to be fit to face Charlton Athletic for their next Premiership outing on March 31.
"Caleb is managing early stage rehabilitation without any reaction, which is a good sign," head physio Alan Tomlinson told the club's official website.
"We're hoping that, after a few days of work this week, he will hopefully be in a position to start training again with the rest of the squad next week.
"We'll assess the injury day by day."
