Wigan Athletic boss Paul Jewell hailed his £500,000 January signing Caleb Folan, after his goal secured a crucial 1-0 victory at Manchester City.
Former Chesterfield striker Folan netted the only goal of the game at Eastlands after just 18 minutes, having recently grabbed a crucial equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Watford.
Jewell said of his matchwinner: "Caleb has virtually paid his transfer fee back already.
"His goal against Watford was vital for us. If we do manage to survive, that £500,000 will look like a bargain.
"There is a risk in signing anyone, but some are more risky than others. We are talking about a player who is 6ft 4in, has had a good season at Chesterfield and has been around a little bit.
"All in all, it is probably one of the lowest risks I have ever taken."
Meanwhile, Jewell added of his side's overall position: "It was a massive result, though 32 points will not be enough to stay up.
"We still need a couple more massive results, but this win has dragged one or two more into the relegation battle."
