Bruce slams Latics errors

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce has warned his side to buck up their defensive ideas or risk relegation after Sunday's 4-1 mauling at the hands of Bolton Wanderers.
Bruce's two matches at the helm of the Latics have been marred by defensive mistakes with Paul Scharner following up Titus Bramble's howler in last weekend's 1-1 draw with Manchester City with an own goal at the Reebok Stadium.
Scharner headed El-Hadji Diouf's cross into his own net as keeper Chris Kirkland was coming out to collect and afterwards Bruce was unhappy with the general defensive display.
"You cannot play in this league and make individual errors like that," he said.
"We made an unbelievable one last week and have done the same again today.
"As a manager, the one thing you cannot account for are individual errors. You have to give yourself a chance and these mistakes are costing us badly.
"We have picked up one point from the last ten games and if we are going to stay in this league that has to improve.
"I always knew this job was going to be very difficult. It is a challenge but I am determined to try and put it right."
