Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce has returned to former club Birmingham City to snap up Netherlands midfielder Daniel de Ridder.
Bruce brought de Ridder to the Premier League with the Blues last summer and moved swiftly to land the former under-21 international when he was released from his St Andrew's contract on Monday.
The 24-year-old joined Birmingham from Celta Vigo in July but featured in only four league games following Bruce's departure to join the Latics in November.
De Ridder has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at the JJB Stadium.
"Daniel's an exciting player and I'm convinced he can make an impact at Wigan," Bruce told the club's official website.
"He has very quick feet and can pull off the unexpected. He's a player with a trick, who can go past defenders and has an eye for a pass. He is also versatile enough to play in a number of positions."
Meanwhile, Bruce has revealed he is also on the trail of a number of new signings as he looks to bolster his ranks before the new campaign kicks-off.
He added: "It's clear we need to bring in one or two new faces this summer and we're currently chasing several targets."
