Zaki hopes for Wigan return
Amr Zaki wants to return to Wigan Athletic and is hoping Roberto Martinez will offer him a permanent move to the club.
The Egyptian striker enjoyed a blistering start to his loan spell with the Latics last season before his form petered out in the second half of the campaign.
He also infuriated Steve Bruce by repeatedly returning late from international duty, prompting the former Wigan boss to rule out a permanent deal.
However, Bruce's departure to Sunderland has led to Martinez taking over as manager and Zaki is eager to rejoin the Premier League side.
"I really wanted to stay with Latics and and I still do," Zaki told the Wigan Observer.
Zaki has recently been linked with a move to French giants Lyon, but is now waiting to discover if Martinez will offer him a second chance with Wigan.
He added: "I hear Martinez is a very talented coach who is still young and close to the players' age, which will help him get the best out of them.
"But this depends on the Latics board, who should make an official offer for Zamalek to sign me.
"Without a doubt, Wigan was a great experience for me, and I enjoyed every second of the time I spent with Latics in the Premier League."
