Wigan manager Roberto Martinez believes his side have the capability to challenge the best and maintain their top flight status.
Next up are rejuvenated Liverpool at Anfield and Martinez admits it is not the best time to face the Kenny Dalglish-inspired Reds.
He said: "We can open teams up and have a pattern of play that allows us to create chances. It is just a matter of taking them. We have scored six goals in our last two league games and that is a very good return. It is very encouraging and pleasing.
"The players are very focused on bringing success to Wigan. That is their collective aim. There is a real understanding in the camp we need to focus on ourselves.
"If we perform at our best we are capable of getting points against anyone. We are not looking at the opposition so much, just looking at ourselves."
