Matt Gilks to continue in goal for Wigan against Preston

Matt Gilks will continue in goal for Wigan as Preston visit the DW Stadium in the Sky Bet Championship.

Latics have now learned first-choice Jakob Haugaard suffered elbow damage as well as a blow to the head at Fulham last weekend and he could face several weeks on the sidelines.

Midfielder Michael Jacobs is doubtful with a hamstring injury.

Former Manchester United and Newcatle midfielder Gabriel Obertan is pushing for his first start after coming off the bench in the midweek win at Wolves.

Preston could have midfielder Paul Gallagher available again after two games out with a thigh problem.

The 32-year-old returned to light training on Wednesday and is hoping to prove his fitness but defender Marnick Vermijl (hernia) remains a doubt.

North End have won both games in Gallagher's absence, with manager Simon Grayson naming an unchanged side for the midweek victory over Birmingham.

Grayson has reported some unspecified "niggles" but no major new injury concerns.
