Holt worry for Latics

Grant Holt is rated as "very doubtful" for Wigan's clash with table-topping Nottingham Forest at the DW Stadium.

The striker was forced off in Latics' 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough in midweek due to a knee injury and boss Owen Coyle was far from optimistic about his chances of featuring against his former club.

However, Shaun Maloney, who missed out against Boro because of a foot injury, should be available for selection.

Fellow winger Callum McManaman completes the three-game suspension he picked up following his dismissal at Bournemouth and while defenders Gary Caldwell (hip) and Ivan Ramis (knee) remain sidelined, Thomas Rogne (back) is on the comeback trail.

Forest boss Billy Davies could again make wholesale changes to his team.

After Sunday's 1-1 draw at Watford, the Reds boss made 11 changes for the Capital One Cup tie at home to Millwall. Forest progressed after extra time and the performances of summer signings Jamie Paterson and Djamel Abdoun will have given Davies food for thought.

However, there is a strong possibility the Scot could once again change the whole team at the DW Stadium as the East Midlands club look to extend their unbeaten start to the season.

"Yes, we will make changes we will freshen it up again," said Davies. "We had a tough game at Watford on a hot, sticky day. We freshened things up against Millwall and we will do so again at the weekend for what will be another tough match."
