Double defensive doubt for Wigan

Wigan could be missing both Luke Garbutt and Craig Morgan as they look to remedy their home woes against Ipswich.

Latics, without a goal in their previous five games at the DW Stadium, lost Garbutt (back) and Morgan (groin) to injury as they were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle on Wednesday.

Boss Warren Joyce admitted he would have to assess them later this week, but it might leave him depleted defensively and particularly in the right-back area, so left-footed Andy Kellett, who came on for Garbutt to play for the first time since March, is in line for his first start since January unless Nathan Byrne (ankle) can recover.

Regular right-back Reece Burke (hip) has returned to parent club West Ham for treatment. Joyce remains without Reece James (foot), Alex Gilbey (ankle) and Nick Powell (hamstring).

Ipswich will have left-back Jonas Knudsen available again after the Dane missed the midweek defeat at Birmingham with a hamstring problem.

Town boss Mick McCarthy hinted that youngster Myles Kenlock could retain his place in defence and that he may make some other changes following two defeats in three matches.

Midfielder Teddy Bishop could be sidelined for up to a month with an ankle injury.

Defender Tommy Smith continues his rehabilitation following back surgery, while midfielders Paul Digby, Luke Hyam and Giles Coke have all been sidelined by respective knee problems.
