Leon Barnett suspended for Wigan's clash with Fleetwood

Leon Barnett will sit out Wigan's clash with Fleetwood at the DW Stadium.

The centre-back was sent off after scoring in the 3-2 loss to Port Vale last weekend and must now serve a one-match suspension, meaning Chris McCann could move back to the heart of defence alongside Jason Pearce and Donervon Daniels.

Haris Vuckic came off with a foot complaint which the club are waiting to discover the extent of but manager Gary Caldwell is hopeful fellow loanees Sean Murray and Francisco Junior can return to the fold.

Grant Holt completed 80 minutes in midweek on his road to recovery from a long-term knee injury but captain Craig Morgan (shoulder), Tim Chow (ankle), Kevin McNaughton (knee) and Don Cowie (calf) are all out.

Graham Alexander has conceded he has doubts over players in his Fleetwood squad, but was less forthcoming over the names of those causing him concern.

Certain members of the Cod Army have missed training sessions on the Fylde Coast this week and Alexander is unwilling to take risks on anyone carrying a knock.

"We won't play players at 80 per cent because they are going to do more damage," he said at his pre-match press conference. "I would rather have 11 fit players who can do 95 minutes then play lads who are half fit - I think that's a recipe to get beat."

Alexander remains without long-term absentees defender Nathan Pond (ankle) and striker Vamara Sanogo (knee).
