McManaman banned for Latics

Callum McManaman will be suspended when Wigan play their first home game of the season against Doncaster.

The winger, who shot to prominence last season after he controversially escaped a red card and retrospective action for a knee-high lunge on Newcastle's Massadio Haidara, picked up his first professional dismissal against Bournemouth on Saturday.

The 22-year-old substitute had only been on the pitch three minutes when he was given a straight red for a challenge on Brett Pitman and, after Latics elected not to appeal the decision, he will serve a three-match ban.

Boss Owen Coyle has hinted at changes but the central defensive trio of Thomas Rogne (back), Gary Caldwell (hip) and Ivan Ramis (knee) are all out.

Dean Furman comes back into the reckoning for Doncaster.

Furman was not involved as Rovers recorded their first Sky Bet Championship win of the season against Blackburn on Friday night as the midfielder did not return in time from international duty with South Africa.

Harry Forrester has resumed training after a knock and manager Paul Dickov hopes he will get 45 minutes under his belt in the reserves on Wednesday. However, fellow midfielder Marc De Val Fernandez continues to recover from a torn medial ligament.

Tuesday night's fixture is the first league meeting between the two clubs since February 1997, when goals from Colin Cramb and Adie Mike gave Doncaster a 2-0 win at Belle Vue in the fourth tier.
