Caldwell to ring changes
Wigan boss Gary Caldwell is set to shuffle his pack for the Capital One Cup first-round visit of Bury.
Everton duo Jonjoe Kenny and Francisco Junior, who started Saturday's 2-0 League One loss at Coventry, are ineligible to feature in the cup competition, as is their fellow loanee, midfielder Sean Murray.
Defender Jason Pearce is still not ready for action as he continues to recover from a leg injury.
Also on the sidelines are Grant Holt (knee), Emyr Huws (ankle), Don Cowie (calf) and Tim Chow (ankle).
Bury midfielder Jacob Mellis is likely to be given a chance to improve his match sharpness.
The 24-year-old played 35 minutes in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Doncaster after a disjointed pre-season and while manager David Flitcroft admits he is not ready for a full game yet he will get another chance to step up his fitness.
Defender Reece Browning is even further behind in his fitness work having signed a six-month deal on Friday after a trial period but could be included in the squad.
Forward Daniel Nardiello was not deemed ready for the bench on Saturday after overcoming a minor problem while striker Ryan Lowe is still working his way back from an ankle injury.
