Latics to check on Powell

Nick Powell is doubtful for Wigan's home clash with Bournemouth at the DW Stadium.

The on-loan Manchester United forward missed the FA Cup draw with MK Dons because of a tight hamstring but trained on Thursday and Friday.

Both Scott Carson (thigh) and Lee Nicholls are out injured so Mike Pollitt will back up Ali Al-Habsi again.

The likes of Ben Watson (foot), Gary Caldwell (hip) and Shaun Maloney (shoulder) are still missing.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe hopes to have Steve Cook in contention.

The experienced defender missed the festive fixtures after sustaining a small hamstring tear and the former Burnley boss is hopeful he will be able to train ahead of the Championship clash with the Latics.

Winger Mohamed Coulibaly could finally be close to a return to action after recovering from Achilles and calf problems but this match looks to have come too soon for the summer signing from Grasshoppers.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Lee Camp looks to make his first start since the former loanee agreed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Cherries last week.
