Latics to include Maloney

Sought-after winger Shaun Maloney is expected to be in Wigan's squad against Blackburn after his Premier League switch fell through.

The Scotland international met Leicester this week after they lodged a bid of around B#1million but, after failing to agree personal terms, Maloney is back with the Latics.

Callum McManaman will complete a three-game suspension following his dismissal against Sheffield Wednesday as a second-half substitute.

Central defender Ivan Ramis (ankle) faces a month on the sidelines, while midfielder Don Cowie (calf) also misses out, but Liam Ridgewell (calf) and James McClean (knock) will feature.

Blackburn could have Jason Lowe back in midfield.

The 23-year-old has not played since before Christmas because of a foot injury but has had a full week's training and could be welcomed back in the middle of the park.

Full-back Tommy Spurr has played another 90 minutes for the Under-21s and may come into the squad for the first time this season following a troublesome groin injury.

Rovers have no other injury concerns yet boss Gary Bowyer may change things up following the disappointing home loss to Wolves last Sunday.
