Wigan striker Di Santo given the all-clear

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has been given a lift with the news striker Franco Di Santo has not damaged his ankle ligaments.

The Wigan boss had feared Di Santo could be sidelined for weeks, even months, after he was injured in a challenge by Birmingham's Craig Gardner during Saturday's 0-0 draw at St Andrew's in the Barclays Premier League match.

However, the former Chelsea player underwent a scan which has revealed no serious damage to the striker's ankle - and he could be fit enough to face Wolves this weekend at the DW Stadium.
