Black Cats' manager Ricky Sbragia accused Tottenham of being 'after every player in the league' last week and his West Ham and Middlesbrough counterparts have made similar comments about Harry Redknapp's insistence on discussing players from other clubs. Palacios was also anxious to stay in the north-west, making a move to Manchester City more likely than a transfer to north London. The midfielder has settled in the area following his£1m move from Deportivo Olimpio last January and was reluctant to uproot his family to the capital.
