Wigan keeper Chris Kirkland vows to win back No 1 jersey despite conceding 10 in two games

Wigan goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has stated his desire to win back the No 1 jersey despite shipping 10 goals in the Latics' two opening games of the season. [LNB]Kirkland has been a regular between the posts since his move from Liverpool in 2006 but has been deposed by loan signing Ali Al Habsi. [LNB]But he has vowed to grab his chance if or when he gets it. [LNB] Down but not out: Kirkland has vowed to regain the No 1 jersey[LNB]'It's the first time I've ever been in this situation in all the time I've been playing, but I'm no different to everyone else', Kirkland said.  [LNB]'There are much better players than me who have been left out of the team and have had to work their way back in. I'm no special case or anything like that.[LNB]'I've always had to work very hard to stay in the team, and now I'm not I know I'll have to work even harder to get back in there.[LNB]'It's hard not playing, of course it is, but I know that I didn't play well enough to deserve to stay in the team.[LNB]'And I've always said that it doesn't matter who you are - if you're not playing well enough, there are people here who will come in and take your place.[LNB]'I'll be hoping to grab my chance with both hands when it does come,' he told the Wigan Observer.
