Wigan are expected to sign Cameroon midfielder Modeste M'Bami by the end of the week. The 26-year-old former Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille player is a free agent and a had a two-week trial with Wigan in the summer. Reports in Spain on Tuesday night suggested Roberto Martinez faces stiff competition from La Liga side Almeria, but he is confident M'Bia will opt for the Premier League. Former Wolves and Wigan striker Henri Camara is on trial at Sheffield United. Manager Kevin Blackwell needs to make an emergency signing after losing Jamie Ward for six weeks with a torn hamstring. Camara was previously strongly linked with a move to Portsmouth, but manager Paul Hart opted to take in Danny Webber instead.
