Match Preview

Wigan Athletic will be looking to put their midweek disappointment behind them as they prepare to face Everton at DW Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Latics went down 2-1 at Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night with Nikola Kalinic's strike settling the bout after Gary Caldwell had equalised Morten Gamst Pedersen's opener.

Wigan's defeat sees them sit in 14th position and just two points from the relegation zone and boss Roberto Martinez will be striving for his side to ease their growing concerns as they continue to loiter around the wrong end of the table.

With Paul Scharner (knee) only causing Martinez problems in his team selection, Wigan are otherwise at full strength.

Everton have claimed back-to-back wins in the Premier League after successes at Goodison Park against Manchester City and Sunderland.

This has helped propel David Moyes' side into ninth position after a tough start to the campaign and they are enjoying an eight game unbeaten run on their domestic front.

They will want to improve on their average return on their travels that has yielded just two wins in ten fixtures to date.

Moyes is still without the services of Joseph Yobo (hamstring), Tony Hibbert (groin) and Phil Jagielka (knee).

Powerhouse forward Victor Anichebe (knee) is nearing the end of his injury lay-off, but this fixture may come too soon for him.

With new signing Landon Donovan breaking his goalscoring duck in the 2-0 midweek win against Sunderland, the America international will want to further continue his growing reputation ahead of the World Cup finals in South Africa this summer.

The hosts claimed a 1-0 victory over the Toffees in their DW Stadium meeting last term.
