Manager: Roberto Martinez

Martinez's first season in the Premier League has been a rollercoaster - including that 9-1 defeat at Tottenham - but he has done what he was asked to do, keeping Wigan safe.

Best Player: Hugo Rodallega

There are several candidates Mohamed Diame, James McCarthy, Charles N'Zogbia but it is the Colombian who is likely to be given the big money move this summer.

Worst Player: Jason Scotland

A £2 million signing from Martinez's old club Swansea, Scotland had to wait until April to score his first Premier League goal.

Big Issue

Martinez has secured safety, and his task now will be to prove he can help Wigan into mid-table while coping with the loss of several of his most important players.

Verdict: 6 out of 10

Survival was ensured with a degree of comfort in the end, but Martinez will know he has endured a steep learning curve among the elite.
