Whelan calls on Wigan support

With West Ham having sold out their away allocation for this weekend's crunch game at the DW Stadium, Latics chairman Dave Whelan has called on the town of Wigan to get behind the Latics. The crowd is already calculated to be over 20,000 and the club are hopeful of a sell-out, so anyone looking for a ticket should act fast. Speaking to the club's official website, Whelan said: "We are a proud town, and it is time for the Wigan people to come out and support the team. We're already going to have the biggest crowd of the season here, and it's always fantastic when we can fill the place. So my message is clear, come and support your team, please."We want Wiganers to turn up, support your team and come and watch Wigan Athletic. "The supporters have been magnificent all season, we get critisism sometimes by outsiders about our crowds, but as a proud Wiganer myself, I know what this club means to the people of Wigan and our supporters are as loyal as any in the country. "Premier League survival is everything and we know that a win against West Ham on Sunday will be a huge step towards survival - it is a game we really have to win and I believe that Wiganers will help the side by playing their part."Roberto has got the team playing really well over the past few months, but we'll all agree that we haven't been getting the points we deserve. "But it's not a time to feel sorry for ourselves, it's time to roll up our sleeves and finish the job, and with the help of Wiganers, we can do it."
