Wigan's unlikely weekend match-winner Maynor Figueroa hopes his last-gasp goal can inspire the team to survival in the Barclays Premier League. The Honduras international smashed home only the third goal of his Latics career to beat Birmingham 2-1 at the DW Stadium. It proved crucial in keeping the bottom side in touch with their relegation rivals and only three points now separate eight teams at the foot of the table. "I'm really proud of the goal because it meant three points for the team," Figueroa said. "I was just happy to be able to contribute in this way, because I felt my performance in the first half was not so great for me. "It was a great day for us and now we must push on and get ourselves out of the relegation zone and use the confidence we have generated to continue winning games."
