United boss Ferguson uses Nani as bait in bid to keep Wigan winger Valencia out of Real's clutches

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has offered Nani to Wigan as part of a cash-plus-player deal for winger Luis Antonio Valencia. Ferguson sees Valencia as an ideal replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo following the Portuguese star's £80m world transfer record move to Real Madrid - who are also said to be interested in signing the Ecuador international. Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has confirmed the club have received offers for Valencia of between £14m and 18m and has said there is 'no doubt' the player will end up at United or Madrid. But Ferguson hopes the offer of Portuguese winger Nani as bait will seal the deal for 23-year-old Valencia, reports The Daily Mirror.
