Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has taken Cameroon international Modeste M'Bami on a week's trial. The 26-year-old midfielder is a free agent following the expiry of his previous contract over the summer with Olympique Marseille. "Modeste has a great pedigree and a great curriculum with top teams around the continent," said Martinez. "He can control the tempo of the game with his ability and experience." He added: "He has a sharp brain, can see a pass quickly and can operate in a few positions around the midfield area. "We'll be assessing him over the next week and see what happens." M'Bami has 28 caps and seven goals to his name with Cameroon.
