Tamudo could be freed

The latest twist in the Raul Tamudo saga could see the Spanish striker released from the club this week. Reports are claiming that Espanyol could be ready to terminate his contract, in order to bring an end to a row which has erupted in recent weeks. The club reacted angrily to requests from the player's agent Tomas Duran to reduce his buy-out clause. Now the row is continuing with the two parties set for a meeting, which could see Tamudo - who is known to interest Wigan's Roberto Martinez - leave the club. If Tamudo was to leave the club he would be sidelined until January when the transfer window opens. Espanyol president Daniel Sanchez Llibre does look as if he is trying to smooth things over. "Although I am fed up with things I do not want a battle with anyone nor do I want to see things become out of hand," said Sanchez Llibre. "Tamudo, although badly advised, has given us a great deal. I would not want to see anyone leave the club having had their reputation harmed."
