Former Wales captain Gary Speed heads a six-man shortlist of contenders to succeed Wigan Athletic-bound Roberto Martinez at Swansea City. Speed has been approached by Swansea while ex-Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd and Exeter manager Paul Tisdale have been linked. The Premier League side agreed to pay Swansea around £2m in compensation for the promising 35-year-old manager but Martinez's unveiling was held-up for 10 days. The Welsh club played hardball over compensation for Martinez's backroom staff, who are also moving to Wigan, but Martinez's departure was eventually confirmed on Monday night. Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins confirmed talks have already started to replace Martinez now the Spaniard is finally set to seal his switch. Jenkins said: 'We are down to about six main people.'
