Swans reject Blackpool bid for Rangel

Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers have revealed the Championship club have rejected a bid from Blackpool for highly-rated defender Angel Rangel.[LNB] The Spaniard, who joined from Spanish side Terrassa in the summer of 2008, sat out the 9-1 thrashing of Dutch side VCS on their pre-season tour to Holland, increasing speculation over the 27-year-old's future at the Liberty Stadium.[LNB]Rodgers told Swansea's official website: "An offer has come in to the chairman from Blackpool for Angel. But it has not been accepted.[LNB]"The situation is under control and I am due to have a meeting with Angel. I want him to stay and there is an offer of another contract on the table for him.[LNB]"There is bound to be interest in him, like there was with Darren Pratley because he's a quality player. Angel is 27, in the last year of his contract and desperate to play in the Premier League. But so are we.[LNB]"We have no need to sell him (financially) and I think this is the place to be.[LNB]"Like I said, we are in control of the situation and it was just coincidence he didn't play against VCS.[LNB]"Certain players needed a rest rather than play two games in two days. He wasn't the only one."[LNB]Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is also reported to be interested in securing Rangel's services.
