Swans confirm Martinez agreement

Swansea have "reluctantly" allowed Roberto Martinez to speak to Wigan about their vacant managerial position. The Latics approached Swans chairman Huw Jenkins about the 35-year-old on Tuesday and have since been cleared to talk to their former player after meeting Jenkins' valuation of him. A statement from Swansea read: "Swansea City can confirm that they have reluctantly given Wigan Athletic permission to speak to Roberto Martinez about the vacant manager's position at the JJB Stadium. "Permission was granted when Wigan's offer of compensation reached the appropriate level set by Swansea City, and was only given when taking into account Roberto's own wishes."
