Swans conclude Latics talks

Swansea have announced that Wigan have agreed compensation for manager Roberto Martinez's backroom staff. The Latics had previously reached a settlement for Martinez's services and were set to unveil the Spaniard as Steve Bruce's successor last week. But the move hit a setback as there was no agreement for assistant boss Graeme Jones, chief scout Kevin Reeves, goalkeeping coach Inaki Bergara and masseur Oscar Brau. Championship outfit Swansea, though, have stated that a deal, which is said to not suit either club, has been reached and negotiations have ended, with Martinez now seemingly set to officially take over at the JJB Stadium. Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins told the club's official website: "I don't think either club are totally happy with the final compensation figure agreed for the backroom staff. "But I think both clubs realise that this matter now needs to be concluded so that we can all move on and prepare for the new season. "The new fixture list is out on Wednesday and we are determined to be ready for the new Championship campaign when it kicks-off on 8th August. "We are also determined to start the campaign strongly and keep moving forward as a football club. "We will endeavour to keep Swans fans updated with any new managerial developments and a further statement will follow in due course."
