As if having McCarthy and McArthur in the squad wasn't bad enough, the Latisc now have a duo of Caldwell's after Steven, brother of Gary, completed his move to the club. The 29 year old defender has joined the club on a free transfer after his contract expired with Burnley last season. A full Scottish international, Steven will add much needed experience to the defensive line. Caldwell has been training with the club for the past few weeks and made an appearance in the friendly game with Dundee United. Speaking to the club's official website about the move, Roberto Martinez said: “We have seen what Steven is all about during his time here, a leader on and off the field and he is a great personality to have in the dressing room. He has shown real professionalism in his time with us and we are delighted to have him on board. “He has good experience of the Premier League and has played in the Champions League and UEFA Cup, plus is a full Scotland international. He is a totally committed defender who will add fantastic competition to the squad.” Steven Caldwell will go straight into the squad and could feature in the Carling Cup game with Hartlepool tomorrow night.
