Spurs eye Steve Finnan but warned off Antonio Valencia

Espanyol defender Finnan looks set to join Spurs on loan next month, believe the Mail, as Redknapp looks to bolster a defence which has been besieged by injuries this season.[LNB]Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate have been hampered by knee injuries while full-back Alan Hutton is ruled out for the rest of the season with a broken ankle.[LNB]Finnan would welcome a move back to the Premier League. The former Liverpool defender has failed to hold down a regular starting berth at Espanyol and has only played four times in Spain since joining last September.[LNB]Redknapp had originally hoped to bring Portsmouth's Glen Johnson to White Hart Lane but chairman Daniel Levy's reluctance to spend big in January has forced him to look elsewhere.[LNB]Spurs' hopes of signing Wigan's Ecuador international Valencia have been doused after manager Bruce ruled out a new year departure.[LNB]"When Antonio is on form, he's a real handful for any defence. You know how highly I rate him," Bruce told the Wigan Evening Post. [LNB]"I've said it a few times, that if David Bentley cost £15million, then how much is Antonio worth? [LNB]"I don't want to put valuations on anybody, and the last thing I want to do is sell people. [LNB]"We're on the verge of building a really good team and I don't want to dismantle that. We've got power, pace and energy throughout."[LNB]
