He may be on a barron run and falling out of favour with the supporters, but Hugo Rodallega has been singled out for praise by fellow striker Conor Sammon. The Columbian international striker has found goals hard to come by in recent weeks and his performances have tailed off. Hugo Rodallega has even come in for criticsm from some sections of the home support. Now new arrival Conor Sammon is hoping to be given more match time up front with Rodallega and he is sure that the duo can fire the Latics to safety. Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post, Sammon said: "Hugo's a fantastic player, Wigan's joint record goalscorer in the Premier League, and for me to be playing with players like him is a massive help. "I thoroughly enjoyed linking up with him last week, although it was only for a short period of time. And I'm looking forward to hopefully more over the coming weeks. "I'll keep working hard, and I'm confident I can keep getting myself into positions and hopefully score a few goals." Sammon is expected to be pushing for a starting birth against Birmingham City on Saturday, although Martinez is likely to go with the former Kilmarnock man on the bench.
